Under One Roof is a community heritage project based in and around St Mark’s Church in Shelton Stoke on Trent.
The aim of the project is to restore and conserve this important Edwardian building.
Under One Roof is funded by a major grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund with supporting funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, Staffordshire Historic Churches Trust, National Churches Trust, Whalley's Quarry and Edward Cadbury Charitable Trust.
Community Heritage activities include learning sessions, creative activities, talks, research and events which enable people to share and understand local heritage.
The project explores the history of migration into the area and those who came to work in the potteries, pits and steel works and more recent arrivals.
So many people in Stoke on Trent are finding it hard to have enough food. Lots of us are worried about this. People are so kind that they are helping make sure that no one is hungry.
St Mark’s Church is now used by a local community project that gives food parcels to hungry families.
Children from St Mark’s Primary School collected spare food in the autumn as part of their Harvest celebrations. They donated this food to the Open Door project that used to meet at St Mark’s Church.
